Pajama Day

When I was in elementary school our school declared "Pajama Day" once a year. We thought it was so novel to be able to wear our pajamas to school.

Earlier this week, in my efforts to be a "fun mom" and make homeschooling even more exciting than it already is, I told my kids that Friday would be Pajama Day. "We can wear our pajamas all day!" They were very excited. So today as I type this post it is almost 1:00pm and I am still wearing my nightgown...and I am going absolutely crazy! I feel unprepared, lazy and uncomfortable! (It doesn't seem to bother the kids a bit) We haven't been lounging around- we have done our school work and jobs, my bed is made, I even cleared out a box of office supplies that has been sitting in my husband's office- one of the last remaining boxes from our move last fall. I guess the past years of dabbling in Flylady has rubbed off on me. I want to be dressed to the shoes! So what makes you feel ready to tackle the day? Shower? Make-up? Clothes? Shoes? Cheerios?

...and a clean shave. definitely a shower though. even when i hiked timpanogos and left at 5 in the morning, or went skiing and left at 6 in the morning, or whatever activity at whatever time, a shower starts off my day-even if i just took a shower right before bed.

Spoken like the true only son of his father....Rick can't start a day without his shower, either. Me---it is definitely brushing my teeth, getting dressed and putting on some makeup. Unless I'm going out to work in the yard (which happens fairly often) then I wait until I've finished the dirty work and then I take a shower and get dressed and made-up for the rest of the day. There are a few days that I do like to stay in lounge clothes all day---dark, cloudy, rainy days when the wind is blowing and there is no call to go outside for any reason. Judging from the weather patterns this past winter and spring....if I ever get moved up to Oregon, I may never get dressed!!

Well starting my day definitely includes brushing my teeth and getting dressed. Although I don't like putting my shoes on, ok I'll be honest, my sandals on unless I'm about to go outside. Putting on make up also helps me feel more ready to start the day, unless I'm feeling particularly pretty sans make up, which only seems to happen on an occasional weekend.

That's fun that you let your kids have Pajama Day though! I remember that. I was always so worried that I would show up and be the only one that remembered to wear their pajamas to school.

What a great idea to have a Pajama Day. You rock to for homeschooling your kids. Kaiyah starts Kindergarten in the Fall and she is very excited.

I'm with you...I would go crazy in my PJ's all day. I need a shower first and foremost!

oops, i started posting as ben...

getting dressed is what signals the "start" of my day. although that usually doesn't happen until after breakfast. i have been trying to take my showers at night lately because my "alarm clock" is my kids waking up, so it's nice if i don't have to worry about a shower in the a.m. (if i do shower in the morning, they usually end up getting in with me- and a pregnant lady, a three year old and a one year old makes for a really full shower).
