My Cultured Children

Today during our vocabulary lesson, Marah and I were talking about culture. What is culture? We studied Ancient Egyptian culture last year-- the buildings, the writing, the art, etc. Then I tried to expand upon that definition. To be a cultured person, I explained, someone reads good literature, appreciates fine art, and eats good food....then Ethan pipes up, "Yes! Like macaroni and cheese!"

I am Momma Ashaleea's mom. I'm so glad to see that my grandchildren are becoming so cultured.......I think what Ethan REALLY said was " fettucini alfredo", or Marah's favorite, "gnocchi with pesto". And they both love "pho"----they even know how to pronounce it correctly. Have no fears, Ashley.....your children may be ordinary children in some ways ( you know, the "stinky-feet-stare-at strangers-leave-their-clothes-on the-floor-can-I -have-another-cookie" way, but all in all they far surpass the level of culture acquired by other children their age. And that is the opinion of a very cultured Grandma!
